Kylie Lip Kit Valentine Collection

Kylie is launching three new shades for her Valentine collection: Mary Jo K, Posie K and Koko K. These new shades along with the others should be available online in the morning of February 5th (she didn't give the exact time but it's usually at 9 AM PST). I'd recommend following her on Instagram and turning on post notifications to be notified.

Each kit retails for $29 and comes with a liquid lipstick and lip liner. I only have the shade True Brown K and I have reviewed it and compared it on my YouTube channel:

Generation Beauty Haul & Experience 2016

I went to Ipsy coctail party and gen beauty on Saturday. I didn't get a swag bag but I got a couple of goodies on Saturday.

Hair Do's & Don'ts

Making few changes to your hair care routine can do wonders. We all heard of tips and tricks to maintain healthy hair but not all of them are always true. I've teamed up with Madison Reed  to share 10 popular myths and determine whether each of them is fact or fiction.

1. Color Hair Without Worry? Do it
I've been told numerous times that dyeing your hair damages your hair and that's the main reason why I stayed away from it all my life. However, choosing a healthier hair color is the solution. Avoid hair dyes that contain harsh chemicals such as PPD, ammonia and resorcinol. Madison Reed Radiant Creamy Color doesn't contain any of those but instead it has some ingredients that strengthen and repair your hair: Micropigments, Argan Oil, Keratin, Ginseng Root Extract.
I'm also in the process of dyeing my hair for the first time. I wasn't too sure about the color, so I decided to take Madison Reed Hair Color Quiz to help me decide. The quiz consists of 7 questions and it helps you find the right match for you based on your hair and skin tone. I got matched to Venezia Brown - 4NGV, which is described as natural dark brown with hints of gold.

2. Shield Hair from Sun Exposure? Do it
Sunlight doesn't only damage your skin but also your hair. It weakens hair causing breakages and fades color, so use hair styling products with UV protection.
3. Tie Wet Hair in a Ponytail? Don't
Each strand is weak when your hair is wet because the chemical bonds that hold hair proteins are temporarily broken.
4. Use Heat Protection? Do it icon
Heat from blow dryers, flat irons or curling irons can damage your hair, so make sure to prep your hair with heat protective serums and sprays.
5. Rinse Hair in Cold Water to add shine? Don't
I personally never heard of it but this is not true. Hair cuticles don't open or close due to hot or cold temperatures. What you can instead is use products that will provide shine to your hair. Madison Reed Color Reviving Gloss adds gentle shine, conditioning and color refresh.

6. Ease Up the Tension: Do it
Pony-tails, buns or braids that are too tight can strain your scalp and cause hair loss, so instead of pulling back strands drastically, use products that eliminate frizz.
7. Trim Hair Often to Grow Faster? Do it
Get a trim every 6-8 weeks to avoid split ends that cause hair to break and thin out.
8. Dye Hair during pregnancy? Do it
Healthier hair color allows pregnant women to dye their hair. Dr. Jan Hansen, broad-certified OB/GYN, confirms women can dye their hair but advises them to always consult doctor before doing so.
9. Blow Dry All Winter Long? Don't
Constant drying can damage your hair, so avoid blow drying your hair too often. Simply cover your head during winter if your hair is wet, so you won't feel chilly. However, it doesn't increase your likelihood of catching a cold.
10. Shampoo Everyday if you don't need to? Don't
Washing your hair too often strips away natural oils, which can lead to dry, frizzy and unmanageable hair. It also causes color fading. I used to wash my hair almost everyday when I was a teenager and it really damaged my hair. Ever since I stopped, I noticed a huge improvement in my hair.

Ipsy Coctail Party + Generation Beauty LA 2016

It was my first time going to Los Angeles and I can't wait to go back! I only went there for 3 nights and mainly for Gen Beauty, so I didn't get to explore too much. Stay tuned for my Gen Beauty Haul! I didn't get the swag bag unfortunately but I did get a couple of beauty products on Saturday.

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips

I finally tried out ColourPop liquid lipsticks! I got 3 full size lipsticks and two mini kits (10 mini lipsticks). Check out my video for lip swatches and review:

Packaging & Price
Each full size lipstick retails for $6 and contains 0.11 oz of product. Anastasia Beverly Hills lipsticks contain same amount of product but retails for $20 USD each.

ColourPop also has two mini kits (Foxy Kitty) that each retails for $20.

Each full lipstick contains 0.11 oz of product, while a mini lipstick contains 0.0352 oz but each kit contains a kit with one lipstick containing 0.0317 oz of product.

In total you get about 0.1725 oz of product for $20, which is slightly more than a full size lipstick that retails for $6 but you do get much less product with these kits for the price. However, you get to try out 5 shades and I personally don't go through most of my full size lipsticks anyway, so this is perfect.
So far I have 13 shades:
  1. Clueless - dusty mauve pink
  2. Beeper - warm mid-tone taupe
  3. Tulle - dusty mauve burgundy
  4. Creeper -  true classic blue red
  5. More Better - deep violet wine
  6. StingRAYE - cool toned mauve brown
  7. Trap - dusty grey beige
  8. Limbo - deep chocolate brown
  9. Bianca - soft dusty pink
  10. Times Square - muted pink beige
  11. Be Merry - mid-tone true warm pink
  12. Last Dance - true brick red
  13. Glitter - rich red- violet
Here are swatches of all 13 shades: Clueless, Beeper, Tulle, Creeper, More Better, Trap, StingRAYE, Limbo, Bianca, Times Square, Be Merry, Last Dance and Glitter (from left to right).

I love the fact these lipsticks are pigmented and dry down to a matte finish. I've heard most drugstore lipsticks aren't completely matte, so I'm glad these are fairly inexpensive and matte. These can dry out your lips, so I'd recommend exfoliating and moisturizing before apply them. I don't really find them uncomfortable on the lips though.
As for application, I noticed some shades (mostly lighter shades) aren't as opaque, so I did have to build them up. Also, these do transfer so they aren't as long wearing as I was hoping they would be. However, if I don't eat these can last on my lips for about 4 to 5 hours and they fade away nicely.
  • Pigmented
  • Matte
  • Decent wear time These lipsticks usually last me 4-5 hours if I don't eat but they do start to fade away once I eat. I like how they fade away nicely.
  • Price: I love how they're reasonably priced than other lipsticks.
  • Variety of shades: They have over 40 shades to choose from.
  • Drying: Some of these lipsticks feel drying and emphasize lip lines. Make sure you moisturize your lips before applying them! I'd also recommend exfoliating if you want a smooth application.
  • Transfer: These do transfer, so I have to make sure each time I eat that I don't get it all over my face.
ColourPop Limbo vs Kylie Lip Kit True Brown
A lot of people have been comparing ColourPop Limbo to Kylie Lip Kit in True Brown. Both lipsticks contain the same amount of product but check out my video to find if the shade and formula are the same.

Kylie Lip Kit True Brown K

Each set retails for $29 USD and includes a liquid lipstick and lip pencil. I got one set and paid about $60 CAD with shipping. I got the kit it in True Brown K but there are currently two other shades (Dolce K and Candy K). There are three more shades launching for her Valentine collection and only one of them has been revealed so far: Posie K.

I'm in love with the box! Each box represents the shade pretty well. On the back, there's Kylie's signature as well as her tips.

The ingredients of both lipstick and lip liner are also listed on the back.

The lipstick contains 0.11 oz of product. As much as I love the box, I find the lipstick looks simple. I wish she incorporated some color to it.

Lip liner contains 0.03 oz. At first I thought it was one of those liners that can twist up but it's not. You have to sharpen it. I honestly prefer that because that way I can sharpen it to my liking. However, the cap isn't secure. It comes off very easily.

Here are swatches of True Brown K lipstick and lip liner:

Many people were saying True Brown is dupe for ColourPop Limbo. The shades are very similar but ColourPop Limbo appears slightly warmer.

However, on the lips it's hard to tell unless if you take a photo with flash. I applied True Brown K lipstick & lip liner on top lip and ColourPop Limbo on my bottom lip. Here's a closeup lip swatch photo taken with flash:

The lip liner glides on very smoothly. It's very creamy, pigmented and easy to apply. At first I didn't think I needed the lip liner because I usually don't wear lip liners with liquid lipsticks but then I noticed lip liner does really help. It makes my lips more defined and prevents the lipstick from bleeding. Since I didn't have a lip liner of this shade, I'm glad it was included in the kit. However, I still wish it was sold separately because some people might already own a lip liner of this shade in their collection.
As for the liquid lipstick, I'm quite impressed with the formula. Now it's not the most comfortable liquid lipstick I've tried but it's opaque and very long wearing. A bit of lipstick did come off when I ate greasy food but it still didn't look that bad even after 7 hours.
  • Pigmented & Opaque
  • Long wearing: It does come off when you eat greasy food but fades away nicely.
  • Scented: It has a strong vanilla scent to it, which reminds me a lot of Stila All Day Liquid Lipsticks and Sephora Cream Lip Stains. I personally don't mind it.
  • Drying: It feels drying and emphasizes lip lines
  • Slightly Transfers: It does transfer a bit even when dried but not too much.

Comparison with ColourPop Limbo
  • Similarities
    • Size: Both lipsticks contain 0.11 oz of product
    • Shade: The shades are very similar to each other. On my lips, both of the shades look pretty much the same but when I swatched them on my arm, ColourPop Limbo looked slightly warmer.
  • Differences
    • Price: ColourPop lipstick retails for $6 USD, while Kylie Lip Kit retails for $29 USD (lipstick & lip pencil).
    • Formula: ColourPop Limbo feels slightly more drying and doesn't last as long as Kylie Lipstick. Also, it's not as opaque as Kylie Lipstick.
    • Scent: Kylie Lipstick has a strong vanilla scent, while ColourPop Limbo is unscented.
