How to apply nude lipstick + Favorite MAC lip combo

Here's a quick tutorial on how to apply nude pink lipstick and my favorite lip combination using MAC products. I always struggled to pull of a nude lipstick but that all changed when I changed few things hehe Hopefully this video will help you out especially if you have pigmented lips or Indian/Pakistani/Medium/Olive/Brown Skin. For shade reference, I'm NC40-NC42 in MAC.

Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipsticks Swatches & Review

Each lipstick retails for $20 USD ($26 CAD) and contains 0.17 oz (6.5 g) of product, which is a bit more than a lot of lipsticks out there that usually contain about 0.11 oz of product.

Check out my video for review and lip swatches of 5 shades (Bombshell, Venus, Flirt, Trophy Wife and Spice Girl):
I love the packaging! It comes in a box that slides open just like her lashes do but the front is transparent so you can clearly see the lipstick and the shade is also featured on the lips.

The shades along with their names are also featured on the sides of the boxes.
It comes with a doe-foot applicator that makes it easy to apply.

Shades Swatched
I got 5 shades from Sephora for now but the full collection will be available in October, so will pick up few more including Trendsetter.
  1. Bombshell subtle pinkish nude
  2. Venus deep taupe-brown
  3. Trophy Wife rose wood
  4. Flirt cheeky brown
  5. Spice Girl an iconic 90s brownish mauve
Here are arm swatches of all 5 shades (Bombshell, Venus, Flirt, Trophy Wife and Spice Girl). For shade reference, I'm NC40-NC42 in MAC.
 __________
Bombshell - Subtle Pinkish Nude
Usually I do have to pair lip liners with nude lipsticks especially lighter shades to make it work for my skin tone but surprisingly I didn't have to do that with this one. It's such a beautiful shade!

 __________
Venus Deep Taupe-Brown
Unlike Bombshell, I do feel like I need a lip liner to pull this one off but I still like it.
icon
 __________
Trophy Wife - Rose Wood
This is my favorite from the bunch and there's no surprise there since these shades complement my skin tone well. I'd definitely recommend this one to anyone because I feel like it would complement all skin tones.

There's also her lip contour pencil in Trophy Wife and they're exactly the same. Here are swatches of Huda Beauty Lip Contour Pencil Trophy Wife (left) and Huda Beauty Liquid Lipstick Trophy Wife (right).
__________
Flirt - Cheeky brown
This one is my least favorite because I feel like it's a bit more cool-toned and I find it doesn't complement my skin tone if I were to use it on its own. However, I'm planning on pairing it up with a darker lip liner.

 __________
Spice Girl - iconic 90s brownish mauve
I really love this one!! It's such a gorgeous shade that I'd personally wear in fall/winter.

Review
I'm quite impressed with the formula of these liquid lipsticks because they're lightweight, non drying and comfortable on the lips. I also have Huda Beauty Lip Contour Pencils, which are drying but these are comfortable on the lips. I find these are least drying liquid lipsticks I own. These last long on the lips (about 5-6 hours) but they start to slightly fade away towards the center when I eat. These lipsticks are pigmented but not as opaque as I wish they were.

Application: These apply like a gloss but dry down to a matte finish in about 30 seconds. I just wish it was a bit more opaque because I felt like I had to build up the color but I like how I can build up the color or even mix in the lipsticks and I still get a smooth application.
Scent: These do have a scent to them, so keep that in mind especially if you are sensitive to products that are scented. Stila, Sephora and Kylie liquid lipsticks have similar vanilla scent to them but these have a different scent, which I can't really describe.
Pros:
  • Pigmented
  • Smooth and easy application: These apply smoothly and evenly.
  • Matte: These apply like a gloss but dry down to a matte finish.
  • Lightweight
  • Non Drying
  • Long Wearing : These last on my lips for 5-6 hours but they do slightly fade away. when I eat. However, I like how these fade away beautifully and don't leave a film on the lips.
Cons
  • Minimal transfer: These do slightly transfer even after being completely dry
  • Not too opaque: I just wish these were more opaque

Jackie Aina J.Glow Palette Tutorial & Giveaway

Jackie Aina J.Glow Palette last week is currently sold out and I dont know if it will be available again. It's infused with Kaolin Clay to help create   I bought mine directly from e.l.f. cosmetics website for $6 USD along with few other products and paid about $2 USD for shipping to Canada. I got an extra palette for a giveaway.
Check out my video for tutorial using this palette and giveaway details:
It contains 0.26 oz. (7.5g) of product in total and comes with a mirror.
It comes with 5 shades and my personal favorite is the gold one. I prefer using it more for nighttime looks.
Here are swatches of all of the shades on my arm. For shade reference, I'm NC40-NC42 in MAC.
Swatches on NC42/Indian/Pakistani/Brown Skin
Overall, it's a great palette especially for the price. The shadows are pigmented and easy to blend. I'd recommend using a primer for a better payoff and longevity but even without it, I love how all the shades show up pretty well on my skin tone. I really hope this palette would come back in stock.

L'Oréal Infallible Pro Glow Foundation

L'Oreal Pro-Glow foundation retails for $12.99 USD ($16.99 CAD)Check out my video for demo, review and comparison with L'Oreal Pro-Matte foundation:

Packaging
It comes in a tube and contains 1 fl oz (30 mL) of product.

It looks similar to L'Oreal Pro-Matte foundation.

Shades
There are 12 shades to choose from. I got the shade 208 Sun Beige, which is lighter than me. Unfortunately I can't get shade 209 Caramel Beige here in Canada, so I will have to make this work. I have a strong feeling I'm in between 208 and 209 anyway. Also, keep in mind that it does oxidize, so I don't think shade 209 would have worked for me.
Here are swatches of the shade 208 Sun Beige of when I first applied it and how it looks after it sets (left).
As for L'Oreal Pro-Matte Foundation, I have the shade 107 Fresh Beige and that's a bit warmer but it still looks good.
Here are swatches of L'Oreal Pro-Matte - 107 Fresh Beige and L'Oreal Pro-Glow - 208 Sun Beige:
Shade ReferenceI don't own any MAC foundation but I should be around NC40-NC42 in MAC.
Here are some of the foundations that match me well:

Review
I think it's a good everyday foundation that can even work with some with combination/oily skin like mine as long as you set it properly and use a primer but you might need to touchup throughout the day. The coverage isn't that bad. It does cover my redness and hides most of my imperfections. It's easy to apply and I do prefer applying it with beautyblender. It does set fast, so I'd recommend applying it on half of face first.
Left side: With Foundation
Right side: Without Foundation
  • Finish: Radiant
  • Coverage: Medium
  • SPF 15
  • Wear time: I tested it out for about 8 hours and it looks good throughout the day but the only thing I noticed is since I have combination/oily skin, I do get oily around my T-zone.
    Pros
    • Long wearing: It looks good throughout the day and I find it doesn't . If you have normal/dry skin, it should look great throughout the day
    • Lightweight
    • Easy to apply
    • Blendable
    Cons
    • Slightly clings on dry patches: It does slightly cling on my dry patches especially when I apply it with a brush.
    • Lack of shades: I really wish there were more shades. I'm in between 208 and 209.
    • Flashback: Since the foundation contains SPF 15, it does give a bit of flashback but it's less noticeable in photos taken outside.
